Karma generates $55K/Month by revolutionizing remote team culture
Here’s how:
Company Spotlight:
Karma, developed by Stas Kulesh and his team, is a performance report builder and workplace culture enhancer available on Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Telegram. Managers can set goals, and reward the best performing employees. Beyond mere acknowledgment, the tool offers performance tracking features, empowering managers to transparently assess individual achievements and contributions. A unique aspect of Karma Bot is its rewards system, providing instant and long-term incentives based on team members' performance. This approach attempts to motivate individuals and contributes to building a more engaging and collaborative work atmosphere.
Idea:
The idea for Karma bot originated as an internal tool for the digital studio, Sliday.com. The tool was initially designed to improve team morale and provide valuable insights for team leaders within Sliday. After a successful launch on Product Hunt, the team realized the demand, which led to the evolution and expansion of Karma as a SaaS product. The main motivation was to create an in-chat peer recognition system that encourages teammates' appreciation, provides performance tracking, and offers instant and long-term rewards.
Just like that, Karma was born.
How did they get their first customers?
Karma Bot initially gained its first users when it was launched on Product Hunt. Although the launch was successful and resulted in a large user base, the initial monthly recurring revenue was relatively low due to startups' hesitation to pay for additional features.
The significant push in user acquisition came from Karma bot's partnership with Microsoft. Microsoft helped them develop and launch Karma bot for the Microsoft Teams platform, which led to a larger and more lucrative user base. While the development process for Microsoft Teams was challenging, the potential of the user base, mostly enterprises, attracted more paying customers.
How do they generate revenue?
Karma bot generates revenue through a subscription-based model. Users can use the basic features of the bot for free, but for access to advanced features and insights, they need to subscribe to the premium version. The premium subscription is offered on a per-user basis, and the pricing scales with the number of users. Here’s the scoop:
$3.30/User/Month (Or $3.00 if paid annually)
Minimum of 5 Users
That Sweet, Steady Stream:
With this, Stas and his team reached $55K/Month in recurring revenue.
By these estimates, they’re on track to collect a sweet, steady stream of $660,000 ARR with Karma.
